I Come Back Stronger Than a Powered Up Pacman

UW - 2. Rest of the Nation - 0.

Apparently, it was a good weekend to be a Badger fan. Both the women's and men's hockey teams won their respective NCAA tourneys last week. First time that's ever been done, if I heard correctly. Luckily enough, Liz and I were in Madison where we met some friends and family and went out to a sports bar to watch the game. Great game, too. The Badgers allowed BC to hang in the game all the way to the end, even though they were really quite dominant all game long. Sure made it interesting, though.

Life in the ROC has been pretty hectic, as of late. Work is busy, as usual. I've gotta pull some data from one of our subsystems regarding patients' vital signs. For about 1000 patients, it takes about an hour to run the program to pull the data. Not too bad, until you realize that I have 65,000 patients to pull data for. *sigh* Outside work at the clinic, I'm working on another project for the guys at Relion. That's led to some long nights, including Sunday night when I was at the office until after midnight and up working on it until about 3 in the morning. *sigh again*

Outside work, in what little of a life I pretend to have, the weather has been getting notably nicer. Liz and I have been out in the yard working on things a bit. We got the lawn cleaned up and the shrubs trimmed. Now Lizzy is getting that itch to start working on her garden. My only request this year is that she only plant one tomato plant. Last year, she had three. I don't even like tomatoes. Geez. Why couldn't she plant a hot dog plant? We could have three of those.

So, anyway, I've been pretty busy. And just today, I found that ESPN upgraded their gamecast from a rather sad, semi-updated, web page that would provide pseudo-accurate game stats into a virtual ball game, in itself. Last year, I'd simply let it run on my other monitor so I could keep tabs of the Brewers scores when they had day games. Now, however, it has little animations to show where people hit the ball, live stats that touch on the inane (did you know that Brady Clark, after reaching the count of 0-1 batted .387 in 2005?), and even a pitch grid that shows where each pitch was thrown in an at-bat. It's like I can actually watch the game while at work pulling all that good old vital sign data. This is probably not a good thing.

With all the stuff going on around here, Liz and I have started talking about going on vacation. The most promising destination, at this point, looks like Chicago. We're thinking we can catch a show, some music, maybe a Cubs game - all that good stuff. And, of course, Nick and M live down there, so we can always try to get together with them.

Hope you all have a Happy Easter. The in-laws are coming up to visit this weekend, so we'll be having Easter in the ROC for the first time, ever. Should be grand.

Later, all.
